After listening to my pitch and watching my video, the rest of the A2 class came up with the strong and weak points of my video, and some suggestions on what could be improved. I will take all of these into consideration when going back to my video.
WWW:
- Good body language
- Good lip syncing
- Good contrast between dreams and reality and portrayal of depression
- Good lighting in some shots (starting+when he was sat alone)
EBI:
- Field location needs to be in a different location or shot in better light
- Make the darker shot lighter on his head
- Add more of a shot variety
- Develop more narrative
- Wasn't so grainy (lighting)
Suggestions:
- Shoot the dark shot in the studio for better lighting
- Use longer shots to show he is isolated/alone
- Experiment with opacity with shots of lights
- Use camera movement
- Blend in lights over the dark footage
- Try to portray fireflies and the impact that they have on him
- Use a different background rather than a field - indoors or maybe a bedroom like it was originally suggested

Initial Screening
This is my initial screening for my video. I managed to get the whole song completed for this; which was a huge improvement from last year as I didn't manage to get it all finished in time last year.
Pitch of my ideas
I wanted my music video to be of depression and how the actor is alone and is very dreamy. The video will be set in a bedroom and a park to help show this. I wanted to mainly keep it around the bedroom and will include more footage of his friends and include more narrative.

Shot List and Timeline
This task will has helped me to plan the overall structure of my music video. It has helped me to understand what shots I will do and how long they will last on the screen for, which will help me with editing. I will stick to the structure of this shot list - however I could add in any extra shots while filming.
Extra Planning Task - Progress
After completing the analysis of the lyrics, I then decided to approach the song 'fireflies' from a different angle. I will make my narrative about a person who is suffering from depression and can't separate his dreams from reality. His dreams are about happy imaginative things such as fireflies - linking to the name of the song. Slowly during my video the person will slowly lose his mind and the environment around him disappears. In the end the person chooses to believe that his dreams are reality and blocks out everything else and becomes more involved in the 'dream world' - we can see this through editing. He forgets that people (friends and family) care about him, and chooses to believe that he is alone. This will be shown through lighting and at the end - him sitting on his own or someone could walk in and there would be a shot of 'magical' things happening - but then after the shot of whoever walked in we see that there is nothing magical in the room at all.
